Taking a group shot with kids is always a crapshoot. One is always looking away, making a face, picking their nose- its just always something.
It sucks and its stressful. To make matters worse – my daughter, three years old, hates having her picture taken– and since she was about 18 months old has flat out refused to look at the camera. EVER.
When it comes to professional photos, I need a valium– because even my son (six years old) has been a complete ham since the day he was born, ends up getting frustrated with having to hold his gorgeous little smile while we all shout out our most desperate cries to get her to look at the camera – “Lainey, look at the camera!” … “Ooo! Look over here! It’s a Dora! … “Say Cheesey, Weezy!”… by the time she looks, my son looks completely miserable and understandably so.
Well, recently Mr. Complicated found the most amazing app in the history of apps. No, seriously. I know I sometimes use the word amazing frivolously, but this lives up to its definition because it is LIFE CHANGING. {I am totally not affiliated with the app at all} Are you ready? Its called GROUP SHOT and it is the best 99 cents you will ever spend in your life.
Here is an attempted family pic we took on Christmas eve this past year.
Final Product? Picture perfect photo!
Told you! LIFE. CHANGING.
The app is currently only available for iPhone users, but how amazing would it be to be able to do this on the web? Now that PicMonkey has arrived as the savior to all of us mourning Picnik lovers, perhaps they will take note of this amazing function and partner with these guys!

Yay for face saving apps! (literally ;) On a side note, your family is precious and girl - your legs are ROCKIN!
OO! Face- saving app! Why didn't I think of that for the title?
and I assure you it is the black tights working some magic of their own in that pic. My legs have never been rockin' lol - but I will totally take the compliment! :)
Oh I'll have to try this...thanks for sharing!
What a fabulous idea! I can't wait to try this... thanks for sharing your secret!
The app looks great. I'll have to check it out! I'm also glad you posted about PicMonkey. I've been wondering what I'm going to do without Picnik.
By the way, I LOVE that outfit your daughter is wearing! Looks like another shopping trip for Soup will be in my future!
That IS awesome... thanks for sharing!
P.S. Just read your side panel - what do you mean you date John Mayer? What do you mean you worked for ARI GOLD? WHAT?
We recently had a photo shoot of my kids and their cousins. They are 5 kids, with one toddler. Imagine the stressed we've been thru! Lol. Now we have lots of pictures, either one of them is not looking, or worst, crying. I will try GroupShot, hopefully it works.
This is awesome!!
