How To Host An Instagrammable Baby Shower

One of my closest friends is just weeks away from delivering her first bundle of joy and her baby shower is fast approaching {insert excited squee!!! here} .

Is there any event cuter than a baby shower?

Her family always hosts the most beautiful & creative, parties so I know her shower is going to be chock-filled with decorations and things that will have me Instagramming every detail (just as I did at her gender reveal).

Living in the age of Instagram and Pinterest, we have become lovers of seeing and sharing all the pretty things we experience. And if you spend countless weeks planning a babyshower is there anything more flattering than having the fruits of your labor swooned over and shared with world online?

But what exactly makes a baby shower “Instagram-worthy”, you ask?

The general, over-arching rule to making anything “Instagrammable” (that’s totally a word– right?) is to find details you can integrate into your photo opp that appeal to the eyes, the mind and the stomach!

As long as your party details check off one of those three boxes your guests will be enthusiastically snapping and posting away.

Now if you’re planning a shower and are looking for some more specific inspiration to get your creative juices flowing, below are a few more detailed tips and trendy ideas to consider.

Tips + Ideas For Hosting An Instagram Worthy Baby Shower

Create A Hashtag.

Every Instagrammable(?) event needs its own unique hashtag! It helps to collect all of your guests photos, which you can then print out or create an album with after the event. Once you’ve come up with your hashtag, you want to be sure to get the word out and encourage your guests to use it.

Print out little tent cards for the middle of every table and also frame signs with the hashtag on all display tables (such as the dessert table, gift table, next to the seating cards, etc).

Make It A Game.

I really love the idea of making your hashtag into a game!

Tell your guests that at the end of the party a winner will be chosen from the photos posted with your party’s hashtag. Selection can be chosen at random or based on creativity– but either way it will get your guests excited to share pics and it is way more fun than taking guesses at crushed up candy bars in diapers (just me? Or is that the grossest game ever!?!)

Set The Scene.

Felt letterboards are all the rage on Instagram right now. So much so, there are popular dedicated Instagram accounts and hashtags that are being followed and used every day! You can get one on Amazon for around $20 (give or take depending on the size).

Set up a photo station near the front of the room with props and include a letterboard for them to create their own captions (this could be part of the hashtag game mentioned in the previous tip!)

As you’ve likely seen all over Instagram, jumbo-size helium balloons are also a big trend right now. Adding big letter balloons to your dessert table like this instagrammer did will call to your guest  to snap a pic!

Show stopping Centerpieces

Diaper cakes are a bit of a baby shower staple but to make it instagrammable you need to take it to the next level.

While not necessarily a centerpiece on every table per say, unique diaper cakes are fun to create and to capture. Teepee’s are very trendy right now and putting a diaper cake inside of a teepee is just beyond adorable.

I had so much fun making this one below using a white and mint green hooded towel from JustBorn.

I especially love the soft pastel color and star print because it is gender neutral!!

Even if Mom and Dad know which gender they’re having,  there comes a point where we are drowning in shades of pink or blue. This color is a breath of fresh air!

Going with the bath theme, I also added in some matching wash clothes and bath essentials (some tucked away in the center of the diaper cake)– making it not only instagrammable but practical.

Another idea that I’m kind of obsessed with that is so incredibly simple– yet very unique– is to create a centerpiece that features an adorable outfit for the baby on the way.

If you love flowers, you can add it to the middle of your floral centerpiece–but truthfully,  you can simply use a riser to set the outfit up high.

Baby clothes are so cute, you don’t really need the flowers!

Setting these beautiful outfits up high on hanger stands will be eye-catching from all around the room and will definitely pique your guests interest to walk around and see them all.

I mean lets be honest? What’s cuter than teeny tiny little take me home outfits?!

Like the towel/bathtime diapercake, I also love the practicality of this centerpiece too, as it doubles as a gift for mom and baby after the shower itself.

Trend Tip: Anything with teepees, arrows, woodland creatures, anything with that “boho vibe” is very trendy in the baby world right now. The boho-inspired prints in the layette/sleeper sets I used in the centerpiece above are from Gerber Organic– and let me tell you that not only are they incredibly adorable, they are the made from the softest organic cotton you’ve ever felt and an absolute dream for any Mom-to-be… especially to those who are passionate about living an organic lifestyle.

Pretty Bite Size Treats

People don’t just love tiny baby clothing, you know what else they love? TINY FOOD! There are over 60,000 photos currently using the hashtag #minifood on instagram.

Gorgeous dessert tables can really add to your decor and in many cases can be a major focal point that people love to photograph! Below are photos I took of the dessert table at my cousin’s baby shower.

This table was perfection because it was simple, classy, matched her theme perfectly and had lots mini single-serve desserts and treats such as candy, cake pops, cookies and rice crispy treats.

Almost too cute to eat, right??

But it doesn’t have to stop at the dessert table.

If you’re planning a brunch theme bite size food nosh-ables are super easy to create and don’t need to break the bank.

Things like: finger sandwiches, mini pancakes and waffles, mini parfaits and tiny grilled cheese and tomato soup are easy to DIY and you can find everything at your local grocery story.

So what do you think?

Are you ready to break the internet with all of the photos being posted of your event?
