Monday’s Tip – accessorizing with a statement necklace

Today-

Stretching Your Summer Style Tip #2

Belt It!

Pull out that maxi-dress or solid color top you have been wearing ALL summer and play with different types of belts- wide, skinny, colorful, printed.

Stand in front of that mirror and try the belts on high, try the belts on low, over a cardigan … under a cardigan.

| 1. Stretch Skinny Belt, Banana Republic $20| 2. Geometric Panel Skinny Belt, Charlotte Russe- $3.99| 3. Tribal belt duo, Charlotte Russe-$7.99| 4. Cognac W-Waist Belt, Steve Madden- $38| 5. Fossil Multi-color block belt, Macy’s- $21.99| 6. The Sash, American Apparel- $16 | 7. Leopard Print Skinny Belt, ASOS – $7.59| 8. Sasha Samba Sash belt, Mod Cloth- $16 |9. Faux Leather Skinny Belt, Old Navy- $13.95|

Belts can totally transform an outfit and add a great pop of color or texture.

I will confess, there was a time that I was afraid of belts, but once I started experimenting with them, I realized there are ways to wear belts that flatter every body type– even ones with baby bumps 🙂

I’ve found that wearing a high waist belt – especially skinny belts for my fellow “bumpers”– is usually the most flattering and versatile.

How I Wore It. . . On Instagram . . .

|Green Maternity Tube Top, Thyme Maternity $35| Jessica Simpson Secret Belly Denim Capris, Motherhood- $59|

The Top:

Like all Thyme Maternity tops, this tube top is made of the softest cotton (seriously- so soft) and comes with optional straps, making it even more versatile for different looks as a tank top.

The Denim:

Maternity denim can be tricky. I’ve been lucky enough to find 3 pairs that I really love.  I’ve been pretty obsessed with these Jessica Simpson maternity denim capris are worth every penny. They are my favorite. Super comfy, great quality and washes well.

This Bebe swing top is actually not maternity at all.

I purchased it for Laina’s first birthday –almost 4 years ago (see below)!

When we had a wedding this past weekend and I was bored with everything in my closet, so I broke out this bad boy and slapped on the Anne Taylor rhinestone belt that I had purchased over the holidays. New outfit that showed the belly.

WOW. I don’t know what shocks me most about this throw back picture… How much the kids have grown, how dark my hair was… or how James looks about 16.
