Let’s be honest– between sports practices, playdates and school days– kids spend a lot of time in casual clothes.
This is part of what makes getting them all gussied up for holiday gatherings and photos so special.
We parents spend countless hours browsing before selecting the winning (often coordinating) holiday styles for our families.
For us, our girly-girl typically anchors the look and the boys’ outfits follow suit. We’ve done many years of gorgeous classic Christmas-reds, but then we fell in love with a gorgeous Navy Sequin Tulle Party Dress that made us decide to ditch the red.
How gorg is this dress?
The multicolor sequin bodice glistens with gold, pink, and purple hues, and the satin skirt with tulle overlay and puffy crinoline lining makes it a little girl’s dream.
Laina loves it so much that she is begged to wear it to her Christmas concert. She paired it with the leather moto-jacket herself. This kid has an eye for style.
More and more we are seeing nontraditional colors popping up in stores– The Children’s Place and H&M both have some super cute PINK styles in their line this year– and the added bonus to choosing a dress like this one for holiday is that it can easily be worn again for other celebrations like New Year’s parties, Sweet 16’s, weddings, etc.
Pink Princess has hundreds of special occasion dresses to choose from, including many popular boutique brands at affordable prices– and yes, you can still snag a dress for Christmas! Their extensive inventory of little girl dresses and little boy suits makes it possible for most orders to ship the next business day!
Another one of my go-to online shopping spots is Amazon– of course… because… PRIME! They also have a lot of styles from one of my all-time favorite girl’s formal brands, Oh-lala-Couture.
Their trendy dresses are some of the fluffiest, fullest tutu dresses I’ve ever seen, and they make girls feel like they walked right out of the pages of a fairytale book.

My daughter wore her 1st classic red Oh-lala-Couture dress practically everywhere, from holiday parties paired with ballet flats and a cardigan, to a Taylor Swift concert paired with a denim jacket and boots.
Available to rent at Rainey’s Closet
Rainey’s Closet is a site I also recommend checking out! They have a TON of Tutu Du Mode dresses (like the one above) & other high end styles available to RENT for a fraction of the price. $200 dresses for $45? SIGN. ME. UP– right??
Below are even more non-traditional holiday dresses I love for this year’s holiday!
