When I was 18, graduating high school I remember my friends and I made fun Baz Lurhhman’s Everybody’s Free To Wear Sunscreen”. It was the most ridiculous “song” we had ever heard. I mean he wasn’t even singing and really? sunscreen? … that’s the best you got old man?

This morning while I was on my way from Pre-school drop off, I heard the silly sunscreen song come on, on my local radio station. Totally, random – I know. I immediately laughed to myself and turned it up for some laughable 90’s nostalgia…. only 14 years later? I found myself being blown away by how on point and profound that silly song was.
Every piece of advice in it, I found myself thinking– I want my kids to know this. I want my teenage siblings to know this… NOW!
….When the truth is, at 18? I didn’t even listen to the sunscreen part.

- Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth But trust me on the sunscreen…
