A few months ago, my friend Amy and I planned a much overdue girls getaway to Jamaica (full post to come… stay tuned), but since this fall has been unusually busy (in all the best ways), I ended up putting off shopping and packing til the super-duper last minute.
So what is a gal to do when she turns around and finds herself without clothes for that big island vacation? Turn to Amazon Prime of course!
What was life before Prime?
Was there life before Prime?
To be honest though, as much as I heart Amazon Prime this time I was a little skeptical. I don’t often buy clothes from Amazon– and the thought of buying bathing suits (which I was in need of desperately) scared me a little– especially when 2 of the 3 I chose were under $25!!
BUT, it wouldn’t be the first time I’d have to return to Amazon, so I decided to use the sizing charts to the best of my ability and make the leap.
I took a deep breath and pressed purchase.
They arrived the night before I left, you guys!!! Talk about stressed out– but somehow all the stars aligned and they turned out to be my favorite bathingsuits EVER!!!
I got a lot of questions about the bathing suits when I posted on Instagram and Facebook, and even received multiple compliments from people at the pool!
So even though a Resort Wear post in the middle of autumn feels untimely, I’m posting because if you don’t already have a warm weather getaway planned in the upcoming cooler months– these finds will for sure have you itching to plan one!
BATHING SUIT 1
I loved the classy-retro vibe of this one piece. The mixed stripe pattern across the stomach area is super flattering and covers all the right places.
The only downside to this suit was a small chance of having a “side boob” wardrobe malfunction. This is not the suit you want to wear doing water activities. I wore it snorkeling off of the catamaran which was risky but with the help of the waist float they provided and my tying the suit extra tight around my neck– I managed to not give anyone a show. haha
That all being said I got multiple compliments from other women in the pool and passing by at the resort. Awesome buy for $23.99 – And it comes in other patterns!
Note: I purchased a size up than what I usually buy.
BATHING SUIT 2 + COVER UP
For the most part, two pieces are a thing of the past for me. I’m just no longer comfortable in them, but when I saw this off the shoulder, high waist number–I had to give it a shot– and the fact that I posted a photo of myself in it, speaks volumes to how much I loved it.
This style is offered in multiple colors and prints and I will most definitely be purchasing another!
I’ve tried high waisted two pieces before but never liked the cut. This high waist came up above the belly button (and stayed there) and the flowy, ruffle off-the-shoulder top was great coverage too – making it not only flattering but trendy!
Sizing note: I purchased this also a size up based on the sizing chart for the top (I have broad shoulders) and also because– well… it was an inexpensive bathing suit so I decided a little big was better than a little small. In the end it was perfect.
I also purchased this wrap around black ruffle skirt as a cover up with this suit for $15 and loved it!
RESORT WEAR LEAF PRINT JUMPSUIT
Last but certainly not least is this leaf print jumpsuit that screams “Tropical Island Paradise”. I am in love with all the leaf print styles that are all over the resort wear this year and this one did not disappoint– with tiny hints of pink. It could have used a belt, but I didn’t remember to bring one… because #LastMinutePackerProblems.
Also, it was a little bit longer than it looked in the picture (and I’m 5’7- so I imagine this might be a problem if you’re on the shorter side) But over all.. I still loved it!
Not Resort Wear but definitely great for travel days, I scored these buttery soft lounge pants!
